Ouch! Always wear shoes in the boat

G’day Legends! How’s this for a video to finish off the year! A day that literally had everything going for it! Big fish, drama, excitement and plenty of banter. I was fishing with good mate Shauno and his brother Mitch out off the Gold Coast in some absolutely superb weather, needless to say it turns out to be an insane day!

Hmm that is going to hurt more than anyone knows, why because your feet support you and I have had a similar injury FML Brother hope you like needles and pain cause its coming.

  13. Dylan R6 on April 13, 2020 at 1:36 am

Whenever I got a hook in me I would run it through until the barb was outside of my skin and then cut the hook at the barb, pull it back out the way it came in… still hurts like a MF lol.

  14. DeezRMyDays on April 13, 2020 at 1:36 am

That’s why I always cringe when people don’t wear sandals on the boat

11:24 yw. I put a 1/0 treble hook thru my thumbnail before. Used the tip of a utility knife razor blade to slowly enlarge the hole in my thumbnail enough to clear the barb. I also had to twist the hook from side to side like I trying to put a live crab bait on a hook using the barb itself to enlarge the hole in the thumbnail enough from the inside. Ouch, I wasn’t sure I’d be able to get it out, nearly had to go to the ER. My wife just laughed at me about it the whole time too.

  19. Stephen Galvin on April 13, 2020 at 1:40 am

Ok so the trick to doing it on your own Sammy is make the loop hold down the shank nice and firm down to the skin then with your pliers just insurt into the loop and give it a bang. Mate i once barra fishing in Broome was hanging my lures on the side of my tackle box then hooked up stood up a d as i moved my foot I grabbed all five lures on the middle trebles. As a spectator it would’ve been hilarious. But being hooked up to a fish and my tackle box trying to land a fish on one foot in a tinnie isnt what its cracked up to be hahahaha. Just used the loop and pliers technique works a charm don’t have to hit it to hard either. Lovin your vids man

  27. Kellen Buchan on April 13, 2020 at 1:53 am

You’ll think that thumb nails will be the hole vid but really it’s about catching a mac

  28. 1Brengun on April 13, 2020 at 1:53 am

I squibbed and went to ER with it in my finger print. I did a bit of nerve damage trying to back it out myself. Finger prints are meshed and don’t let a barb come back out. Fraser coast has a nasty flesh eating bacteria in the salt water so a course of antibiotics just to be safe.

  29. Marc Ran hay on April 13, 2020 at 1:55 am

I hope they can get the fires under control. This is making me so upset I can’t think what you and all are going through over there. I pray for your beautiful land

  31. townsville Sound on April 13, 2020 at 1:56 am

Another option is cut the hook just above the skin. Make a donut out of a handy material and tape/bandage it over the injury. Then go to a hospital when ya get back to shore. Doc will use a pain killer and a tiny cut with a scalpel.

  32. FTW Wolf on April 13, 2020 at 1:56 am

i got me some cheap on sale snow boots that are water resistant for this reason. they come off easy if you go in the piss. and never get wet feet pulling up anchor.

Brilliant vid and enjoyed every minute! Quick question – are those Talicas you guys are using on the marlin?

  44. Bruce Pedersen on April 13, 2020 at 2:15 am

hi sammy, I was sharing with you a month ago to wear shoes. Do you remember me?
Also be careful with invited guests. They don’t know how and do stupid things. Believe me! For example, I had a lady guest invite another lady, inexperienced, who broke, dislocated and tore ligaments in her ankle. Also, where are your PFD’s? I suggest you stage an accident, put on PFD’s and swim in the open ocean. Nobody else has done that. Emphasize more safety!

  45. Daniel Bergman on April 13, 2020 at 2:18 am

its funny how we can rip the barbs out of fish’s mouths without flinching, but when you see them stuck in another human… well lets just say empathy has to play a part.

  46. MadkeenMicallef on April 13, 2020 at 2:18 am

    Man what a marlin bite!!!
