Gear Runner how’s it going. Just checking on some reviews on Chaco sandals I ran across yours. I had the same problem with my Chacos I’m sorry you went through that man for the money you spent. Was the able to fix yours sandal. I didn’t see a follow up review so I was just wondering. My job requires me to wear these sandals. " I know weird right " my boss order these for me. he saw that I have Big very wide feet SZ 13 EEEE " yeah very wide feet " and they did not fit me well. I have big fat toes and when loosen the toe strap I had the same problem tightening on my big toe and I never tighten the toe strap. My boss thought I didn’t know what I was doing so I had him to adjust them and he saw my problem. My boss name me " wide foot Bandit " I can’t hate on it’s the truth. So i either work barefooted or I wear my reef flip-flops that I bought last year and 2 months later my fat toes worn the footbed out." A nice wide footprint " the soles are still new. I’m not a fat guy I only weigh 225 I just got fat wide feet for some reason. I saw a comment about the Bedrock sandals I’m looking into buying a pair. I was wondering did you get a pair by any chance. I apologize for being so long. You have a great Channel keep up the good work. Thank you and you and your family be safe from covid 19

I have many pairs of chacos and have never had any issues with them doing this. Also, the title is misleading. You are talking about one style of chacos, the z/2, not all chacos.

  3. KNOCkAROUNd511 on May 14, 2020 at 2:37 am

On my sixth pair of Chacos. Hiked over 2,000 miles in them and never had this problem. You should always try on different Chaco styles before you order. You didn’t even break them in right. To each their own. They will take care of your issue. Chaco is a premium outdoor sandal company. Another thing It does not look like that style suits your foot shape.

I have chacos but in a different strap design and I don’t have this problem, they’re actually pretty great. The ones I have were like 110 bucks, and it’s fine for me. no issues. so I wouldn’t completely write them off.

  5. Heather The Reseller on May 14, 2020 at 2:40 am

I thought u were gonna say something way worse than what the title gives off. Just wasted my time lol.

  6. Susan Lehnen on May 14, 2020 at 2:42 am

Once you wear them, the straps aren’t as slippery.

  7. Joshua Most on May 14, 2020 at 2:43 am

Bro, send them back and you must be doing something wrong.

  8. Jerod Beeson on May 14, 2020 at 2:47 am

This isn’t a problem with all Chacos, which is why they haven’t ‘fixed’ them all. The fix they offered is a fix for the individual user. This issue occurs when the user has a high arch or a high instep. The toe-tightening is mentioned on their website for users with high arches or insteps, and they have a solution, or ‘fix’, for those users. But because this doesn’t apply to the majority of people, they haven’t applied the ‘fix’ to all of their sandals from the factory. In fact, they are basically doing you a favor by offering the service for free to people with unusual foot features.

Z/1s dude. Way less feminine looking too.

  10. Ju Valca on May 14, 2020 at 2:49 am

    Hm… desappointed!

  11. Expedition time. on May 14, 2020 at 2:49 am

Look into bedrock bro. Doesn’t get any better

  12. WELCOME TO EL PASO! on May 14, 2020 at 2:50 am

    Try Bedrock sandals.

  13. pinkeangst on May 14, 2020 at 2:51 am

Can you please do an update video?

  14. katesthings on May 14, 2020 at 2:52 am

all you do is untighten them as it says on the instructions it comes with

  15. Kimberly Flaherty on May 14, 2020 at 2:52 am

Rich Eastmain…….I’d like to see you survive in the state of Florida without owning and wearing a pair of sandals or flip flops. You would be very hot outdoors wearing steel toed boots all the time. 😆 Some people that work outdoors are forced to wear them while at work but other than that …..hell no!

  16. Parker Mashburn on May 14, 2020 at 2:53 am

so if you where then for a bit they lock up because sand and dirt gets in them. then they lock up and the straps don’t move at all. just give it a bit of time

  17. Ben Johnston on May 14, 2020 at 2:55 am

his hat though… looks like he has a cone on his forehead!! 🙂

  18. Cameron Sampson on May 14, 2020 at 2:56 am

You just have to rinse them in dawn dish soap and get some of the lubricant off of the strap. Easy fix no big deal.

  19. emtravelrn on May 14, 2020 at 2:59 am

I took one look at the toe loop styles before purchasing and said, "nope". That would drive me crazy. I own four pairs of Chaco sandals and flips and love them. I hope you liked the ones w/o the loop better.

  20. Eddie Car on May 14, 2020 at 2:59 am

You just need one size smaller from your shoe size

  21. tree feller on May 14, 2020 at 3:00 am

    I love my chaco’s.

  22. Shill__Hunter_7 on May 14, 2020 at 3:00 am

*Do not buy sandals that are smarter than you are.*

  23. therealchickentender on May 14, 2020 at 3:01 am

Brother, these have been used and loved nearly religiously by thousands of people. Two things (and this is really late obviously) – you’re tightening them down too much. I did that early on with my first pair (way back in like ’07 or ’08, something like that) and the toe would sometimes tighten like that. They aren’t meant to hug your feet like shoes and with *all* straps a bit loose, they’re way, *way* more comfortable – try it. And second, over time the straps will adjust less easy as they get worn and grit enters the channels. I’d imagine Chaco’s "fix" is simply imitating that by adding fabric for more friction like you mention. At any rate… this is a fixable problem, and might be with just loosening your straps overall. You’ll be surprised – even if when you put them on they feel like they’re going so loose and floppy with extra slack in each strap, they stay in place anyhow just because how the straps are designed. My dollar and 50 cents. 🙂

  24. Midnight and Honey on May 14, 2020 at 3:01 am

You have to wear them to break them in lmao but I mean if that’s uncomfortable oh well

  25. Jerlen Chavez on May 14, 2020 at 3:01 am

So how was it after the fix?

  26. Michael Kirik on May 14, 2020 at 3:02 am

adding that fix will make the chacos less solid for the lifetime

  27. Jeremy Taylor on May 14, 2020 at 3:03 am

Just buy a smaller toe ya hillbilly

  28. 440x on May 14, 2020 at 3:05 am

I have the same pair I stuck a straight pin through the toe strap into the sole of the sandal works great

  29. Kiara Hodge on May 14, 2020 at 3:06 am

just get the ones with no toe strap

  30. chris nichols on May 14, 2020 at 3:06 am

thats why there called the toe strangler!

  31. Emma Sparks on May 14, 2020 at 3:08 am

Mine did this till I loosened them and I got in the river and got dirt in them so now they don’t do it anymore

  32. Haylee on May 14, 2020 at 3:08 am

I got the ones without the toe strap for that exact reason

  33. Li sl on May 14, 2020 at 3:09 am

oh yes ! same here. maybe i have big toes =D .i love the style but its so tight in my toe =(((

  34. Amanda McNair on May 14, 2020 at 3:10 am

Wow! I didn’t understand you until I saw you demonstrate. That is so bizarre. I have some with and without the toe strap. When I watched you move the straps, yours moved so easily. I have to legit yank them to get them to move because my are really hard to move through the shoe. That is crazy. Those straps should stay where you put them! Great review!!!

  35. Jack Sisk on May 14, 2020 at 3:10 am

    Thanks for the heads up👌🏻

  36. Koisneurotypical on May 14, 2020 at 3:10 am

Did Chaco let you switch them out for some Z/1’s? I’m guessing they did b/c they generally are pretty good with customer service. They also suggest getting them dirty (sand will "freeze" your foot settings, thereby making the sandal less likely to move/tighten). Thanks for the video! I was gonna buy a pair of Z/2’s and now I am thinking the Z/1’s or the ZX/1’s would be best for my Fred Flintstone toes 😉

  37. KRiSPYY TV on May 14, 2020 at 3:18 am

Pro tip: if you got big feet dont buy chacos with a toe strap

  38. TAHJ CARTER on May 14, 2020 at 3:20 am

    Your accent 🤣👌🏽

  39. Dale Taylor Jr. on May 14, 2020 at 3:21 am

I have 4 pair of these. Never once had this issue.

  40. DavoFrench on May 14, 2020 at 3:22 am

    teva gangg

  41. kinze Campbell on May 14, 2020 at 3:23 am

Those are super loose mine are hard to pull to adjust

  42. Nate Beres on May 14, 2020 at 3:25 am

Wore this type of chaco for 15 years. Hiked mts, played ultimate frisbee, tons of time in the river and never had this issue.
If you wear them in sand, some gets in the inside and it’s tougher to adjust. This way it stays where you adjust it. If its cutting off the circulation I get it, but give them some legitimate use before reviewing.
I changed over to the model without the toe loop to try it out, line it better. Best sandals ever

  43. Chocolate &Everything on May 14, 2020 at 3:27 am

    I love mine😍

  44. Will Moren on May 14, 2020 at 3:27 am

Thanks for the heads up. I just ordered a pair of Z/1’s and now I’m glad I did.

  45. Shill__Hunter_7 on May 14, 2020 at 3:29 am

Chaco Disclaimer: If you are not smart enough to figure out how to adjust the ONE AND ONLY strap, DO NOT BUY THESE SANDALS. Buy Teva or Keen but if you can’t complete a sudoku puzzle your not smart enough to wear these sandals.

  46. riah h on May 14, 2020 at 3:30 am

a lot of girls wear their chacos with the toe strap down! you tighten the straps until the toe strap is all the way right to the shoe! i bought a 2nd pair of toes straps and i every so often switch which has the toe strap and which doesn’t!

    hope this helped!!!

  47. Chrystal Frost on May 14, 2020 at 3:31 am

They eventually stay put. It just takes a bit of time.

  48. rotex on May 14, 2020 at 3:31 am

I have the same problem after they wore in. When I wear them tight I leave them loose and occasionally have to pull the toe loop out. I also have the other style and love them. I have worn several different brands of sandals and Chacos are my now my favorite. Chaco I have found to have the best arch support of any sandal. My all-time favorite would be my old Alps. That was sold to Teva. I wish Chaco would have a different sole design that did not hold mud. Chaco do last a long time. Watch for sales at REI.

  49. patmaz1 on May 14, 2020 at 3:32 am

So how did this end up? Did they fix your sandals or replace them?

  50. J Burritt on May 14, 2020 at 3:34 am

These are not good sandals any more.  When they were first made in Western Colorado they were great.
