Salvatore Ferragamo Shoe Restoration | Refurbishing These Oxford Shoes

In this video, we give this pair of Salvatore Ferragamo oxfords a makeover. A customer mailed this pair to our shop and wanted to have them resoled with JR leather soles and heels, Triumph toe plates installed and then cleaned off and polished with Saphir products. We set out to give these Ferragamo’s a nice restoration, and we think they turned out well.

I’m buying a pair of ferragamo johnson and Murphy and Allen Edmonds. How much to fix two out of the 3. Also can a shoe that a bit larger be resized to a smaller size say a 13 to 12 and I’m having trouble understanding certain shoes size with letters. 13 b 12c I wear a 12 13 m or d but sometimes certain shoes seem to be either bigger or tighter.

Trenton & Heath, I inherited my grandfather’s collection of dress shoes, mostly Allen Edmunds but his feet were a little smaller than mine. Is there anything that you can do to increase the size .5 to 1 size? Many Thanks.

You’re paying for it being European, nothing more. Just look at Gucci. Italians think they can get away with ripping people off because the name sounds fancy. Nunn Bush will do well for me haha

  9. John Dally on May 26, 2020 at 4:09 am

How much do you charge for all that work?

  10. Abid Hassan on May 26, 2020 at 4:10 am

Well a collaboration with Elegant Oxford will be great. You do the sole and he will go for the upper part.

how much would this job cost?

  14. jkwhitedog on May 26, 2020 at 4:15 am

Their Tremazza line uses goodyear welt, but that usually costs at least 1k.

How do you repair the accidental damage to the leather upper caused by trimming the sole at 11:53?

  16. Brian Coltharp on May 26, 2020 at 4:19 am

Do those Triumph plates click when you walk? Just curious

Randomly stumbled upon this… 5 videos in now… you guys are good. One day I hope to own a pair of shoes that warrant a re-sole… but, my current life situation Dictates that Joseph Abbouds are as far as I can go up the money ladder.

I had some Ferragamo sneakers a couple of years ago. Soles were glued on and kept going loose. Not recommended.

I’m going to Italy in a few months. What Italian brands do you highly recommend? (I’m guessing not Ferragamo’s).

Great work. The shoes look fantastic.

To buy these shoes is good for your Ego, and in second place for your feet. Ridiculous prices. In Europe you pay 700 dollars. In Holland/the Netherlands we have Van Bommel shoes handmade price about 300 dollars.

Wonder why ballet dancers haven’t discovered that "roughening-up-er" tool. I’ve watched a lot of videos & they just use cheese graters.

Hope this message gets to you. I own one of those Ferragamo loafers you were referring to in the beginning 44 secs (upper right hand of the screen). Yes, I’ve had them re-glued like you said. Now that the soles are getting thin in the ball of the foot, I was wondering whether you can re-sole them to Dainites? Thanks!

  30. Dodder on May 26, 2020 at 4:33 am

I should imagine that what you do is not cheap, but then when you have paid $350 for a pair of decent quality shoes, to have them bought back to as near new is good value. Good quality shoes that can be repaired time after time really do last a lifetime. I am impressed that people like you obviously did an apprenticeship, learned your craft well and proviude a much needed service. Thank you.

  32. Colin Roskos on May 26, 2020 at 4:36 am

Was the oops at the beginning because you separated the welt at the toe?

Never thought i would stumble upon with a youtube who cares for shoes so much. Good work :)!!

  37. S on May 26, 2020 at 4:39 am

Haha Ferragamo is the definition of a designer shoe, you’re paying for a name, not necessarily quality. (That’s a mistake most people make when buying designer/expensive things.) Kind of like saying "Gucci always makes great shoes" they make shoes for the fashion but can always put aside craftsmanship…I would say it’s much worse for women’s shoes cause they throw comfort and durability out the window…yet keep prices unjustifiably high in almost every case. Just my 2C, I love these with the voiceover, very soothing somehow to know in chaos we can bring order to such a destroyed shoes…thanks. 🙂

I get my hair cut at a barbershop. In the 1970’s they still had a shoeshine man. He did cool rhythms when he was shining with the cloth.

21:47…. except when you sanded the leather on the upper @ 11:53.
