Just love your videos in French (and I must confess that I saw this one several times ;)), and this one stellar in english ! Congrats Hugo.

By the way, I’m considering the purchase of a pair of brown loafers. Meermin has some good ones, but I’d like something more daring, with more personality… 7L has a good one (classic moc cognac), and then fell in love with the one proposed by Carlos Santas (wine or braga).

From one thing to another, I just saw that Monsieurchaussure propose the (seems so) exact same model and they do the patina/finish themselves for 295€ instead of 369€. Do you consider this interesting or would you go for the CS ?

    Cheers,
    Stéphane

I have seen this video many times. Thanks to you,Mr Hugo,I purchased my first pair of Herring Handmade shoes. The comfort, fit and Finish of Herring Shoes are far better than shoes I used to buy from local Markets. My feet are enjoying the feel of the great leather and I am feeling bullet proof 😊.

Thank you so much for this video .

  10. Cap Colombie on March 27, 2020 at 10:07 pm

I’m so glad you mentioned Loake. I’ve been wearing looks for over 30 years, mainly Oxfords. I was a restaurant manager in high end hotels and restaurants for many years and Loakes were always the shoes I wore for work. When you are on your feet for most of the day then very good shoes are a necessity.

Great video. What are your views on the Italian brand Moreschi?

  12. D- Goms on March 27, 2020 at 10:08 pm

I’m a woman but I really enjoyed watching this video. Can you recommend some women shoes? Because nowadays people go for the high end brands but some leave a lot to be desired

  14. Donald Forsyth on March 27, 2020 at 10:09 pm

Hugo I have just discovered your channel and your delightful presentation style. You have already expanded my range of shoe knowledge and I will have to investigate these brands more in depth.

Hey Hugo, Great video i love all the information and the positive thinking you have. I mainly want to ask you about Velasca. Do you consider them a shoemaker?, my personal opinion is that i love some of their design however it feels like the quality is not there. I would love to hear your thoughts.

Something last between cheaney and septiemelargeur, which one would you say might be better in terms of quality?

    Thanks you Hugo!

  27. Charles Moorman on March 27, 2020 at 10:21 pm

Holy cow those shirt collar points are way, way to long.  Come on Hugo get with the 20’s where collars are narrow which is where they should be.  No more then 2 3/4 " Period!

  28. fishmemmo on March 27, 2020 at 10:23 pm

Your videos are amazing, how much knowledge do you have, how well you explain everything and kind to share all that with us.. thanks a lot!! I own few Church’s, one Allen Edmonds, one old school Cheaney’s Derby indestructible, an Florsheim Imperial really old an old loake’s really damaged but I love their extremely personal patina.. jajajaja I wish I had more money to invest in eBay. I can’t afford new shoes but love to watch videos about them!

Just got my first good / fine black Oxford’s, last week. Gave all (my 4 good shoes) a renovateur ‘treatment’. But I’m already looking for a new pair – down toned brogue cap toe. What I’m saying is that this has taken me and it feels fantastic.
    Cheers from Denmark 🇩🇰

Hello Hugo , many thanks for this. I know Good Year welted shoes are normally comfy but which brands would you recommend for those wearing it all day long?

  31. Roger Huston on March 27, 2020 at 10:28 pm

I have Alden shoes as they can fit very wide sizes. I’m 4E, but Alden I’m 2E. I did get their Cordovan and they are beautiful.

  32. Aesir on March 27, 2020 at 10:28 pm

  38. ctodd122 on March 27, 2020 at 10:36 pm

Dear Sartorial Talks, Thank you for this video reviewing your selection of best quality shoes in the $195-$700 range. For me, I am very interested in shoes and this is my price range. In this video you showed me several shoe brands I’ve never heard of and I immediately took notes. For me, the Sartorial Talks successfully bridges the ‘different levels’ of dressing well. There is a healthy amount of content about bespoke clothing, but there is also a lot of content for people who do not have bespoke clothing as an option.

  39. ElNeo9778 on March 27, 2020 at 10:39 pm

I love whole cut oxfords and I love patina. I just looked at the Caulaincourt website and their shoes look fantastic. But should I be concerned that they are "Blake stitched" rather than Goodyear or hand welted?

  40. The Orca on March 27, 2020 at 10:43 pm

Wow, having this much info off the top of your head requires lifetime of passion and learning about a subject!

  42. NeverGiveUpNeverGiveIn L on March 27, 2020 at 10:45 pm

Yes, once I get a nice pair in a certain, I then want a different style…And then, of course, different colors

  43. Sailorr747 on March 27, 2020 at 10:48 pm

Good day sir; I am a recent subscriber living in Canada. I’m very interested in many of the brands you speak of but, have difficulty finding them here. I know we have prohibitive tafiffs protecting our shoe mfgs, however, I don’t think there any Mfgs left here….only distributors.
Have you any advice about these matters. I enjoy very much your channel….and look forward hearing from you
    Best Regards
    Niel

  49. Seine O'More on March 27, 2020 at 10:52 pm

I’m 63 now so no point me buying a pair of Trickers, I won’t have time to break them in.

  50. blu bug on March 27, 2020 at 10:52 pm

When you called the Alden boots "tanker boots", the Army in me was like… nooo. Haha. Actual tanker boots are made with straps and buckles because laces can catch on fire. Great video, thumbs up.
