My Saphir Renevateur arrived Saturday, as did my AE shoe trees. I’ve been treating a number of fine leather goods with it and I must admit… I’m liking this stuff ! First time I’ve had shoe trees, and I agree, I won’t be without them for my dress shoes any more. It makes for working on the shoes much easier as well. The rest of my Saphir products arrive tomorrow. I’ll probably be adding more colors as time marches on. Appreciate your videos Preston.

What type of gloves do you use and where do you get them?

  7. Md Hussain on April 8, 2020 at 12:46 am

    Awesome

It would have been nice to have the products which were used in this video, explained and identified prior to or as you apply them. As an amateur auto detailer/aficionado, I have researched auto care detailing, which is similar in some respects to shoe shining/detailing and I believe this is the way shoe shining/detailing should be presented, in my opinion. You might think about taking a cue from the auto detail specialists in presenting shoe detailing. And I believe this would make your presentation, more effective.

  20. MTobin1000 on April 8, 2020 at 12:58 am

Great video Preston. I really enjoy your work. I’ve got a question for you…two questions actually. #1 why do you sometimes use your bare fingers to apply Saphir Reneveteur and Saphir shoe cream while other times you wear gloves? #2…..is it safe to use Saphir shoe cream with bare fingers over the long term?

  21. beau danner on April 8, 2020 at 12:59 am

Whisper us through your process. Love hearing the how and why. Plus you tell great stories.

  22. Bradley Akulov on April 8, 2020 at 1:01 am

If you watch this video in reverse, you will start to wonder what kind of gloves Preston is wearing.

  23. Jonathan Robinson on April 8, 2020 at 1:04 am

What beautiful shoes to begin with but when you were done with them…they look like you dipped them in glass! On a side note, I saw saw the collaboration with Steve from Bedo’s Leather works. I can’t wait to see the finished product!👌❤

  24. AintHere4You on April 8, 2020 at 1:05 am

Nice video, excellent work as always! I’m wondering though why you sometimes use"Reno’mat" and sometimes normal aceton/nail polish? What defines the choice?

  25. Matt on April 8, 2020 at 1:06 am

Do the creases give you guidance on how far back on the shoe you can take the mirror shine? Like avoiding flex points?

  26. WarBerJr02 on April 8, 2020 at 1:06 am

Have you heard of Eichenlohe Gruben & Gerbung shoe soles? How do they compare to Joh. Renedenbach Jr. soles?

  27. s 2020 on April 8, 2020 at 1:10 am

    Simply remarkable.👍

  28. Davinder Deep on April 8, 2020 at 1:10 am

‘Full of sound and fury signifying nothing ‘ not taking away the effort put in. What a lovely job with the stacked heel. We want your calming and mellifluous voice back. Though a great pair of shoes and even a greater job in detailing it. I hope you and your family are all safe and doing well in these trying times. God bless you. 🤗 🤗

    Beautiful Shoes.

Preston you made such a beautiful video, only I wish you had taken us through it. A video with a pair of shoes like this one has so much potential for a great narrative yet there was none. The quality of your work and the quality of these shoes speak by themselves and yet there is so much that you could have told us, like what you did whith the heels for example, your choice of products and colours.
In the description links you send us to Pate de Luxe Medaille d’or yet at 7:22 in the video you clearly show us Saphir Beaute de Cuir Wax Polish.

You have a really fantastic (even soothing) way of explaining things yet your videos some how on occassons lack a sense of clarity and direction. I think that if your videos has some of the sense of direction and clarity that, for example Kirby Allison’s videos have, your videos would attract a lot more viewers, and sells to you new web site.

One thing is for sure, your videos and your work are truly amazing…

  31. polytwobeers on April 8, 2020 at 1:13 am

Wax that table while your at it 🙂

  32. Warren Timothy on April 8, 2020 at 1:16 am

Preston, when you put the conditioner on the leather it didn’t look like any even went on the leather. Both I couldn’t see any on your glove not could I see even the slightest wetness from where you placed the conditioner. Out of the 5-6 times you touched the conditioner I only saw anything on it maybe twice. With this being the most important step it seems like you are putting less and less on with each video. Why?

  33. Doc Lev on April 8, 2020 at 1:17 am

Those are some beautiful shoes! Great job, Preston! I would like to see a shoe review at the end of a shoe shine. Like scale of 1-10 on the quality of uppers, construction of shoes and maybe how well it took to shining. Just throwing some ideas out there. You and your family be safe out there!

  34. surinderjit SINGH on April 8, 2020 at 1:17 am

    How beautiful fiddle back sole

  42. The New Age Bassist Chris on April 8, 2020 at 1:27 am

That is a beautiful pair of shoes and it’s stunning to see them shined to that level. Also I’ve been having issues with the cream polish I put on my bluchers cracking upon wear. I don’t put wax on them as they are just a casual/business casual shoe. Is there any way to prevent this from happening?

  43. Robert on April 8, 2020 at 1:28 am

Beautiful shoes and great work as always, but your narrative is what makes your videos so special. No one tells interesting stories, and explains the art of shining shoes like you do. There are plenty of sites for the people that like ASMR; give us back Preston Soto! 😂

  44. Javi C on April 8, 2020 at 1:28 am

    Stunningly beautiful shoes x

  47. Nicky Abril on April 8, 2020 at 1:30 am

Nice video bro. I just started using Saphir shoe wax its way more expensive than the Lincoln wax which I have been using for more than 6 years. I noticed that I can get a a really good military shine with either brand of shoe wax. Do you ever use Lincoln wax or any other brand besides Saphir?
