You do know that the Red Wing Beckman got discontinued, right?
Chippewa service boots
That sweater looks beautiful!
Ummm, cemented is actually SUPER waterproof (depends on material obviously), but timberland s work well
I know you are a Beckett Simonon fan for shoes. Any reason you wouldn’t recommend their boots as an option for this use case, other than the fact that they aren’t good year welted anymore?
How about Crocket and Jones?
Those chelsea boots should be good for hot weather or no??
Definitely with you on the AE Higgins Mills—one of my favorites to wear when the weather gets rough.
I also have a pair of Thursday Cavalier Chelsea boots, but it has the dressier, TPU studded leather sole that is not as durable as their Dainite-alternative rubber sole found in your pair. I’m hoping to get those re-soled with an all-rubber sole (possibly with Trenton & Heath!).
Can you look into Ankari Floruss collection
Thanks for including us in the line-up! Best, Kendra from Thursday
Not for the office but for a rough day of shoveling or around town though not stylish or appropriate for work – timberland pro boots which are insulated and waterproof (with steel toe if in NYC where people will step on your feet in the subway). Purely for function not style.
Alden Indy/Tanker Boots.
Preferred in #8.
Very good video.
Your creditably just went up a notch.
That fact that you know that boots aren’t your big thing, and you looked around to find others who know boots better then you says a lot.
Your choosing Carl Murawski says even more. I watch and trust his videos too.
Point to ALL of you in this space. When you find you don’t know enough about a topic look around and find someone who does. And pick their, brain and learn from them.
Oh trigger me why don’t ya! lol Three pairs of shoes in as many weeks here… please don’t make any more footwear vids until after xmas. 😂
Where did you get that purple V neck?
Why do you have to resole the Dukes? They don’t look much worn out at all.
is AE still worth it?
Reviews have said that the quality control and just leather has really declined!
I just picked up the Red Wing Moc-toe a couple weeks ago. Great boots that are very comfortable.
Stridewise has heaps of boot reviews, well worth checking out. Great video Jon…
You couldn’t have made this at a better time.
I live in California (Sacramento more specifically) and have to wear a suit and tie (and enjoy doing so). Given that it’s California, far be it from me to define something that’s "weatherproof", but Northern California gets a fair bit of rain in the Winter, and I find myself consistently using my Jack Erwin Chelsea Boots with rubber bottoms (https://www.jackerwin.com/collections/mens/products/ellis?variant=5505159561231) and J. Fitzpatrick Chelsea Boots (https://www.jfitzpatrickfootwear.com/collections/boots/products/alki-dark-brown-museum-calf).
They both look really good with suits, business casual, and casual wear. They hold up to heavy rain well too (though I try to make sure I give them a good rest after a bad rain day and polish them between wears). Of course it helps that I have a pair of Allen Edmonds Fifth Ave. shoes with Dainite soles for the rain too (not storm welt, but I’ll look into it), and of course for days where it just sprinkles I have a pair of Cobbler Union with rubber half soles. Most important thing is to have a good rotation, though the Jack Erwin (despite being blake stitched) and J. Fitzpatrick Chelsea Boots (goodyear welted with rubber soles) come in clutch if you have to, or want to, wear a suit.
Hi Kavalier,
When you show boots, you have them paired with jeans. What shirt options are ideal for boots? Especially outside of the office. I have the brown AE Normandy and have an eye on their Dalton in Cordovan.
Suggestions greatly appreciated,
Happy Holidays.
Jon, please look into the direct to consumer shoe/boot company, valasca. They remind me of allen edmonds but think all their stuff it blake stiched. Would love to get your opinion on their country boots.
I’ve read online that the red wing mocs are very casual, and not business casual. What do you think?
If you are interested in wolverine boots, they are on sale at Nordstrom’s right now for $300
When I have to wear leather or suede chelsea bloots?
If you do get the cork in your Thursday Boots replaced let us know how it goes and if it makes an improvement in comfort. I have been thinking the same thing about my pair.
Alden Indy
Nisolo is blake stitched, generally don’t think they’re good value. Sub-$300 boot made in some offshoot place with leather sourced from Mexico and Peru? No ty. Another minor comment imho is to stop telling your viewers that AEs go for around $400. Nobody is paying those prices for AE, really just about tired of youtubers attempting to cast artificial value on mediocre brands (such as nisolo) by saying "its good value compared to the $400 you’ll be paying for Allen Edmonds!!!" Please stop. The usual AE shoes go for ~200-250 and boots most always below 250.
John Lofgren combat boots are the best ever.
Florida boy who I needs boots for literally one (potentially) snowy Pittsburgh weekend this January. Are there any non-$300 brands I should be looking at? Lol
Thanks for the shout out buddy, those Red Wing moc toes are fantastic!
Did you say @ seconds is that store?
Thanks.
I really like your sweater. The color is great.
Ayyy thanks for the shout! All great suggestions! I would also recommend looking for a boot with a lining if you live in an area that is really cold. you don’t have to go full Ugg but I just got boots from johnston and murphy that has a shearling lining and it makes a big difference in the frigid temps!
I picked up a pair of wolverine garett boots this year…hopefully they’ll do well this winter
Where is the info for snow proofing the welts for non winter proof boots ?
Honestly Palladium Boots are always overlooked and are probably the best outdoor boot – but they don’t go with suits, only casual jeans, hiking or snow attire. But they are the real deal and are an amazing price.
I absolutely love my Danner Mountain Lights in the winter. Made in USA, single piece of full-grain leather upper, and waterproof with a Gore-tex liner. They are not insulated, but I have worn them with wool hiking socks in sub-zero temperatures and my feet have never felt cold. They are pricey, but they are build to last forever.
I gotta recommend y’all Oro Los Angeles leathet Granada boots. Durable, does well in the winter, and looks better than essentially everything on this list (IMO).
Living near the artic circle. How do these kinds of shoes handle cold? They dont look that warm.. Talking -20 celcius and below? Anyone have experience?
"If you submerged this boot, your foot will get wet" lol
Where’s this RMW video you reference at the end??
Key message – just follow Carl murawski instead 😀
Allen Edmonds FTW!!! 😮
Are Beckett Simmons boots on the same level as Thursday boots? Or nisolo?
Oliver Cabell SB1 Boots, what do you think of them versus Thursday Boots?
Anyone else think dainite soles are super slick??
Grant Stone – picked up a derby and LWB during Black Friday and the construction is insane. They’re heavier than some of my boots and heavier than shoes with shoe trees inserted.
