  2. Robby Byrd on May 17, 2020 at 2:49 am

I totally do that. Boat shoes. Socks. And khakis. 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

  3. Swaggimus Maximus on May 17, 2020 at 2:50 am

I was expecting you to rag on boat shoes as being cliche in every case, but I understand your point. They look clunky on dress pants, and nearly there are so many alternatives that look better. Keep them as a best casual option, but refrain in more formal environments.

  4. Jacob McAfee Wick on May 17, 2020 at 2:53 am

obvs boat shoes arent formal, clickbait

  5. Cars and Cameras on May 17, 2020 at 2:54 am

Converse Jack Purcell’s are boat shoes & I can wear them with a sweater or shorts or even a sports coat & jeans. Not everyone wants to look like their in a boardroom at an event so please remove it…that stick up your ass #FashionPolice

  6. Daniel Hakimi on May 17, 2020 at 2:54 am

I’ve had this argument with a couple of people on mfa. Some of them argue that they’re basically loafers… those people are wrong. Then we debate whether they’re more or less casual than sneakers… which is kind of an academic question… but I’d definitely say more casual. And people disagree with that too. Idk.

There was a period a few years ago when Band of Outsiders made it look edgy (and cool) in a summer suit.

  10. That1Guy on May 17, 2020 at 3:03 am

How do you feel feel about dress boots? Appropriate for a suit? Appropriate for an interview?

  11. Jack FnTwist on May 17, 2020 at 3:03 am

I’ve been to dozens of the most exclusive country / yacht / social clubs in the world, and have seen many prominent men wear Sperry’s with slacks and blazers. Are you only talking about "professional" environments and weddings? That’s ridiculous.

  12. Cafelogis on May 17, 2020 at 3:05 am

You know who really makes these rules?

  13. Jack -X on May 17, 2020 at 3:06 am

I don’t think your dress is exactly a qualifyiler of your job competence lol

  14. Paige 1996 on May 17, 2020 at 3:08 am

Lol well as a female I wear them as casual shoes but I also dress casually to church so

  15. Jose Gonzalez on May 17, 2020 at 3:08 am

Unfortunately, I’m stuck with boat shoes. Not even ones that I consider good after watching your videos on your channel for a bit. Probably my nicer pair are cowboy boots, but that doesn’t work with business casual.

I do understand where you’re coming from though, and hopefully I’ll be able to get myself my first pair of dress shoes one day lol.

What was the no-show sock peeve you mentioned near the end?

  17. TanakinSkywalker on May 17, 2020 at 3:13 am

I call them butt shoes, cause if you wear them that’s where you take it

  18. Ito Fermin on May 17, 2020 at 3:13 am

Completely agree. I wear mine with shorts only. They’re that casual to me

  19. Vincent Lee on May 17, 2020 at 3:14 am

Any nice boat shoes brand recommendation?

  20. Harold K on May 17, 2020 at 3:14 am

Boat shoes are great with ties and a navy blazer as preppy fashion

  21. Fouad AL-Hatlan on May 17, 2020 at 3:15 am

i totally agree. from where i live moccasins seems the norm and it drives me crazy

  22. askemone on May 17, 2020 at 3:15 am

I cringe hard at guys in boat shoes. If you’re not on a boat, wear different shoes.

  23. Steve Steele on May 17, 2020 at 3:18 am

The founder of Tom’s has to wear Tom’s when he wears suits.

  27. Just the Watch on May 17, 2020 at 3:25 am

Boat shoes are over dressed for most churches in California…

  28. SteamGent on May 17, 2020 at 3:26 am

Man this was like click bait!!!! I thought you were gonna say via the title "Men NEVER EVER wear boat shoes"!!!! LMAO!! YEAH that was obvious boat shoes are NOT dress shoes but they are great shoes!

  29. Don’t read my profile picture on May 17, 2020 at 3:26 am

    NO.

  30. Allan Curtis on May 17, 2020 at 3:28 am

0:24 That is not a suit. It’s a suit pant with a blazer at most.

  31. myke bryan on May 17, 2020 at 3:29 am

I love that this was just something you needed to get off your chest 😂

  34. TotheK I N G D O M on May 17, 2020 at 3:32 am

I don’t like them at all, period. I think there are better options. I think its becuase I’m living in FL and see young men wear these damn shoes all the time with basketball shorts, gym shorts etc…ALL THE TIME. I hate those damn shoes. Seeing them worn bad so often I have just written them off at this point.

  35. Chailatte on May 17, 2020 at 3:32 am

Wearing boatshoes in general are reason for a life inprisonment!

  36. DRHReigns on May 17, 2020 at 3:32 am

  38. nickwoo2 on May 17, 2020 at 3:33 am

Could you wear dress boots with a suit?

  39. Brent L. Van Eaton on May 17, 2020 at 3:34 am

I love that phrase, ‘your style is always working for you, it’s working for you or against you.’, I’m going to borrow that, cheers 🥂

  40. Hans Lankamp on May 17, 2020 at 3:35 am

Does this apply to loafers too?

  41. Alex Chu on May 17, 2020 at 3:36 am

I hate boat shoes too, there are lots of alternatives like a driving shoes or any type of loafer pretty much. Boat shoes just don’t need to be in any guys closet.

  42. Christopher M on May 17, 2020 at 3:39 am

What dress shoes do you recommend for someone with really wide feet? I’m a 10 EEEE and it’s nearly impossible to find dress shoes to fit.

  43. Federico Fekete on May 17, 2020 at 3:39 am

By the way… Where did you got that polo??

  44. Billy Ethridge on May 17, 2020 at 3:40 am

Perhaps young men wear them at inappropriate time because they don’t want to appear older than they are.

  45. El urbano city dweller on May 17, 2020 at 3:41 am

The guy going to the interview in flip flops and out a clean shave might just be the smartest dude to work in the company lol he may not care about his looks but is a genius

  46. nealrutgerskid on May 17, 2020 at 3:41 am

Well.. reality is fashion is what you decide.. lately people are wearing sneakers with suits. So it pretty much how confident and savvy you are with the outfit.

  47. Zach Anderson on May 17, 2020 at 3:42 am

This scared at me first because I showed up to your function with boat shoes on but I completely agree.

  48. archipelago93 on May 17, 2020 at 3:45 am

Oh sh*t, we aren’t supposed to wear hats to interviews?!
Lol for real the image of that cracks me up

  49. marksshoereviews on May 17, 2020 at 3:45 am

Agree with pretty much everything you say but…I shelled out for a pair of Rancourt’s a few years ago and I do love them more than I should ever love a boat shoe.

  50. Bass Stuff on May 17, 2020 at 3:46 am

No beer pong champions have shown up to a game in oxfords or tennis shoes. All I’m sayin.
