How do the toe extensors get stronger than the toe flexors? When you look at conditions such as foot drop it is always the plantarflexors that seem to overpower the dorsiflexors. Even when you MMT the toes you have more power in flexion vs extension

Curious because I have had them shortly after birth. One foot corrected one got worse… my big toe is effectively under my foot. It’s at its worst if I so much as get a cut or sweaty feet at work. Infections!

Well, it looks like I have a bunion on my right foot, no callous though. I don’t know if its a bunion or arthritis because I kicked a huge flower pot years ago & I think I broke it. How do I know if its bunion or arthritis? I walked today and it is hurting so bad from joint of toe up front side of foot that I’m thinking of going to ER. I noticed a slight joint deformity about 4 years ago but I don’t want it to get worse and I sure don’t want the intense pain

I have bunion on my right foot. And I don’t know if I need to take it away or not because I heard it may get worse through ages. I’m afraid of its operation. Will it be long recovery? Oh gosh… Does it any other way than do surgery?

Let’s also talk about that big bunion head of hers 🙃

  12. wrestle4life234 on June 4, 2020 at 5:42 am

Genetics predispose people to these issues, but they do not mean that you will have these issues. Genetics is not always a done deal; a predisposition to bunions does not mean you will with 100% certainty develop a bunion in your life. It may mean that the foot structure is particularly vulnerable to bunion development due to shoes or habits that we have as Americans

  18. Marlene Campbell on June 4, 2020 at 5:52 am

I got a bunion after breaking my pelvis. The postural problem goes higher than just the feet.

  19. meowdy on June 4, 2020 at 5:55 am

Would you recommend having bunion surgery done one foot at a time for a good recovery?

  20. Isadora Chia on June 4, 2020 at 5:55 am

I read lots of reviews from patients who had surgery and they say the shooting pain is worst the bunion it self
they can’t walk or run like before.
I think the medical field is profiting from all the surgeries and patients are in a worst situation

  21. ZAMARIT B on June 4, 2020 at 5:56 am

Can you play volleyball after surgery?

  22. Crood on June 4, 2020 at 5:56 am

What I notice men get bunions because they are on shoes all day and working. Women get bunions due to wearing heels. Specially heels that are strap or those pointy ones. I never heard of a person getting bunions just by wearing normal flat shoes.

  23. Sayed khan on June 4, 2020 at 5:56 am

Do bunions make you feel stiffness in your legs. I have tired legs for long time and I keep on asking my doctor about the reason. Today I suddenly found about bunions actually contribute to pain. I was actually feeling tired with all shoes and was wondering why and what’s the reason? I was actually looking for really comfortable shoes (had no idea that’s it’s not the shoes but the bunions mainly)

Is it possible to be born with bunions? I’ve had a bunion for as long as I can remember. I was born a twin so I wonder if when we were in the womb if my toe got pushed somehow. I jus remember always having a crooked toe & no pain. Just annoying & ugly to look at.

My concern is after surgery…will you eventually be able to return to a more active lifestyle like running and climbing.

  27. Sunshine Video on June 4, 2020 at 6:01 am

I had a smallish but painful bunion – just a small bump on the big toe. It started with a pair of “earth shoes” (you have to be in your 60’s to know what those are) in about 1978. A few years ago I finally decided to get a consult. They told me mine would be solved with a quick and easy surgery, just a bit of trimming the bone. The recovery was lengthy and awful and my big toe has been stiff ever since. I still have to be very careful buying shoes or get pain. Now my big toe is starting to bend toward the others which are crooked. Now the big toe and second toe are meeting and both growing painful bumps which is what brought me here. My reason for sharing this story is to let people know surgery may make things worse rather than better. I have heard this from others as well. Please get multiple consults and talk to lots of people before opting for surgery. Good luck fellow sufferers.

Hi … I have an idea how to take away the pressure and pain of the bunion as I suffer from right foot bunion pain I’ve came up with an idea 💡 how to stretch the bunion but I need help for someone to build my idea it would take basic tools to make it and if it worked it’s something you could buy very cheap I’ve looked online and there is nothing the same as my idea so if anyone is interested get in touch am happy to share idea

  29. Raven Black on June 4, 2020 at 6:02 am

I’ve had a bunion on my left foot since I was about 13 maybe. The ironic thing about this video, is that I barely ever wore shoes at that time, constantly running around barefoot. I’ve never really known why I had it. Now I’m going to assume it’s mostly just genetics for me.
    Thanks for the info

  34. Chrystal Frost on June 4, 2020 at 6:07 am

I usually wear sandals and shoes with wide toe box, and go barefoot a lot. I do think shoes have a big influence on whether you end up with bunions.

I have great toe and flat foot and its turn extreme and I got to know that its hullux valgus. How I get well from this thing? Another question is what I have to do and what to wear in my foot to walk free of any support.

  39. Gary Brown on June 4, 2020 at 6:09 am

They only help if you have very small bunions
If you have large bunions they will roll out of place

Uhg, Im sorry but watching this woman try and speak was like pulling teeth. So irritating.

  41. Nicollete Sand on June 4, 2020 at 6:14 am

This is such crap. "It has been shown in populations that wear shoes …" Of course that’s thee #1 reason. Just look at a babies foot and look at the shoes kids and adults wear. The toes should be the widest part of the shoe but it isn’t. People, please check out the Correct Toes website if you want the truth. Wearing Correct Toes has been a game changer. I’m not exaggerating. I thought I had a balance problem but it turns out I had a SHOE problem. This is why I have ZERO trust in conventional medicine.

  43. Heather Hartman on June 4, 2020 at 6:15 am

I had them since childhood l then boots in the Army made them way worse! Oh, the heels too! 😆
Mom has em. She has to wear wide width shoes. I think we both have flat feet also.

  46. Mikaela Emily (sapphira31) on June 4, 2020 at 6:16 am

My podiatrist actually said it wouldn’t make sense to have surgery on my pretty significant bunions. I was maybe 20. I’m 26 now. I had x-rays done at 14 because they were already bad. I’m still questioning him on this and want to ask other professionals. I don’t want them getting worse and worse over the next many more decades.
