I love the continued strictness of London city wear

  2. Gurney McBuzzin on May 29, 2020 at 4:44 am

The Russian split toe shoes are super cool. I’ve never owned a pair of shoes in the last 30 years and probably never will but I appreciate their beauty all the same.

Kirby, wow, what a selection! Can you give those of us who aspire to upgrade our own shoe collection an approximate price tag for these nine pairs of shoes? Inquiring minds want to know!

Since the COVID19 lockdown I have been watching all the James Bond films with Sir Sean Connery. I have been watching many behind the scenes short films about the clothes he wore and where they were designed and made. All bespoke suits by Anthony Sinclair always looked amazing on him due to his physique and he was so suave and sophisticated. I love exquisitely made bespoke men’s shoes. It finishes off what a man wears and your collection of shoes look amazing. I love buying shoes and have just bought myself a vintage pair of Dior shoes in Ostrich leather in brown from the 1970’s. They are just one off’s and so comfortable and stylish still. What goes around comes around. Never throw anything away.

All great shoes, but my two picks are the Baron de Rede alligators and the Russia reindeer split toes; all great choices none the less! Thank you for sharing

  12. ozgipsy on May 29, 2020 at 4:57 am

Kirby old son, love your videos – but you’ve probably got enough shoes mate.

  13. wrassmussen on May 29, 2020 at 5:00 am

Considering you have invested so much money into your shoes, you really need to maintain them a bit better (like having them shined and having the soles taken care of).

  14. Russ on May 29, 2020 at 5:00 am

Of course the legendary Baron de Rede got his boyfriend to pay for his collection – it was part of the ā€˜deal’ between them.
If I’m not mistaken, Kirby, the crease at the top of your right cap toe shoe indicates occasional non use of a shoe horn!
    The Adelaides are fabulous.

  15. Loz on May 29, 2020 at 5:01 am

I have a whole new level of respect for you after this video! Absolutely fantastic stuff!

Very nice advise on the ordering, fitting and how to go about getting those first shoes. Looking forward to have that myself one day!

What percentage of your income do you spend on bespoke clothes and shoes?

  18. chowychow on May 29, 2020 at 5:04 am

Kirby what’s was your opinion on Cleverley RTW boots?
I’m kind of stuck right now as I would like to try Cleverley but RTW quality-wise how do they compare to C&J handgrade which I mainly wear. Or would you say to pony up a couple of extra bucks and go for Edward Green, Gaziano or even Anthony Cleverley which I also have my eye on?

Any advice would greatly be appreciated.

  24. JumboJetPilot on May 29, 2020 at 5:12 am

Mine are all in ostrich and custom cordswained:
    1. Grey derbies.
    2. Light blue, golden buckle loafers.
    3. Green, arc-capped, single monks with gold buckles (I designed them myself).
    4. Brown double monks with gold buckles.
    5. Two-toned navy blue and burgundy red, wing tip-capped oxfords (I designed them myself).
    6. Two-toned red and blue tassel loafers.

I’m definitely a fan of the practicality of ostrich; no maintenance, polishing, worries about scuffing, and ostrich is far more durable than calf.

  25. Samuel Onespot on May 29, 2020 at 5:12 am

His next shoe is going to be a light blue pig skin penny loafer! šŸ˜…

  26. Samir Mehta on May 29, 2020 at 5:13 am

You have the same toe shape in all the shoes

  27. Jason Patel on May 29, 2020 at 5:14 am

Great idea for a video Kirby. I particularly love the thought behind the seamless faux Adelaide, as well as the burgundy Baron de Rede models. Really amazing story on the Russian Raindeer, hoping to pickup a cardholder at Cleverley next time I’m in London. I think they are out of the material if I’m not mistaken.

  28. anton bach on May 29, 2020 at 5:15 am

Dear Kirby, I read in an article that George Cleverley uses thinner sole than some other makers. Is this significantly thinner and therefore requires more frequent resoling? Are the shoes less comfortable than your Dimitri Gomez shoes for example? In other words, do I have to compromise in Comfort for the elegant George Cleverley look?

You’re still expected to wear a DJ when attending Glyndebourne, and that’s just to sit in a darkened auditorium for most of the evening!!

  30. Sumit Aggarwal on May 29, 2020 at 5:18 am

$50,000 worth of shoes. Not to mention the $$$ for traveling to London. You must come from a lot of money.

  31. stephen turner on May 29, 2020 at 5:18 am

Hard to believe they would let that into their club.

  32. Jacob Morgenstein on May 29, 2020 at 5:18 am

    Very interesting. Thank you

  33. Andrew Lin on May 29, 2020 at 5:21 am

    No brown in town Kirby!

  34. Rei2140 on May 29, 2020 at 5:21 am

    Impressive!
If needed, could you pare down your entire collection to just 5 "must have" shoes? Not just Cleverleys, but your whole shoe collection. What are the 5 shoes you could not imagine living without?
    Cheers,
    Steve

Why would you want to belong to a club where you are judged by the shoes you wear? Are those the values of a real gentleman?

  41. Kurio71 on May 29, 2020 at 5:33 am

Nice wheels. I’m from Australia. Can you show us your thong (flip-flops) collection?

can you wear a bespoke black cap toe oxford as a daily shoe? how long would it last? i work in a luxury shop and dream of having a pair of bespoke shoes but am wondering how they would last

  43. SY on May 29, 2020 at 5:36 am

What a wonderful collection! May I know why did you not add any toe taps to your shoes?

  44. Michael Crawford on May 29, 2020 at 5:36 am

Could do with some countersunk toe plates.

  45. Roman I on May 29, 2020 at 5:37 am

Absolutely incredible video and insight into your bespoke journey. One general shoe care question: would you put heel taps on your bespoke shoes? Or just replace the heel once it wears down? Cheers!!

  46. Mando Jr on May 29, 2020 at 5:38 am

If you want a bespoke shoe from George Cleverly, do you have to travel to London for measurements. I live in Los Angeles

  47. markv1 on May 29, 2020 at 5:38 am

I look at this collection from the Italian tailored clothing tradition, and think how can this collection miss dark brown shoes – they are a must-have for any complete wardrobe.. but I guess this is a British thing.

I“ve had cleverley“s for almost 25 years now that still look and wear fantastic. As it could be no other way., as I was working in London at the time, my first pair happened to be a black wholecut that is still as new. Amazing quality shoes. I have lateley bought several RTW Kingsman“s. Why not a review on those? Just suggesting.
